The origins of the firm can be traced back to 1899 when the firm operated from premises in Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton under the name of Frank Walton, one of Frank Walton’s clerks was a gentleman called Harold Crombie.
After the 1st world war in 1918 Arthur Lacon joined the company and after Frank Walton retired Crombie and Lacon continued the business. Shortly after this period Ronald Stevens was taken into partnership and the firm became known as Crombie Lacon and Stevens. In 1932 the firm moved from Lichfield Street to Waterloo Road, which is still the principal office of the firm.
